Gaza: Famine and Collapse of Services

Gaza is enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent memory. With Gaza’s food systems fractured by continuous conflict, over half a million people are now trapped in Catastrophe (IPC Phase 5) levels of hunger.

Children are bearing the heaviest burden. Hospitals have admitted more than 20,000 children for acute malnutrition, many in critical condition. Pregnant and breastfeeding women also face widespread malnutrition.

Large-scale displacement continues. Since the escalation of hostilities, an estimated 1.9 million people—nearly the entire population of Gaza—are displaced, many repeatedly.

Medical infrastructure is crumbling. Only a few hospitals remain partially operational. Water, sanitation, and other basic services are rapidly deteriorating. Over 80% of households lack reliable access to clean water.

What can be done:

  • Delivering large volumes of nutritional and medical supplies immediately.

  • Ensuring safe corridors for aid to reach the hardest-hit areas.

  • Supporting displaced families with shelter, clean water, and hygiene facilities.

  • Amplifying global awareness and funding to prevent further deaths.
